2. Texans’ Window Has Closed
There may not be a team in the NFL that has faced a tougher schedule to begin the 2020 season than the Texans. Having to take on the reigning Super Bowl champions in Week 1 led to an absolute dismantling. Then in Week 2, the Ravens were too much to handle.
For the Texans to be able to actually contend for a Super Bowl, they will need to be able to get wins against teams like the Chiefs and Ravens. While it’s important to not read too much into the first two games of a team’s regular season, Houston simply doesn’t have enough.
Moving on from DeAndre Hopkins was a bizarre choice and one that will haunt the Texans. They no longer have an elite talent to command substantial attention of the defense to help the rest of the unit.
There has been a real lack of a dynamic punch in the Texans’ offense and Deshaun Watson with spare parts and an underwhelming offensive line is far from enough. Especially if the defense can’t manage to slow down elite offenses in head-to-head matchups.
