Minnesota Vikings, Tom Brady Buzz Continues To Grow

Could Tom Brady return to the NFL to play for the Minnesota Vikings?

Brady recently said that he wouldn’t close the door on a comeback to play for a contender, particularly if a quarterback was injured and the team needed a replacement.

Well, the Vikings need a quarterback in general.

Minnesota lost Kirk Cousins to free agency last month. It signed Sam Darnold, but Darnold is nothing more than a backup or a bridge starter.

The Vikings own the 11th and 23rd picks in the NFL Draft next week, and there have been rumblings that they could trade up for a signal-caller, but as of now, Minnesota hasn’t done anything.

Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd thinks the Vikings would be a great fit for Brady.

“Let’s just say the Minnesota Vikings call,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “Sam Darnold, slight injury, and whoever they draft at quarterback is not ready to play in that division with the Packers‘ offense, the Bears with Caleb Williams. Look at what they would have: Kevin O’Connell — the tall Sean McVay — head coach; Brady; top-five running back [in] Aaron Jones; best receiver probably in the league, Justin Jefferson; an excellent [No. 2 receiver] Jordan Addison; T.J. Hockenson [at] tight end; and maybe the best young left tackle probably in the sport [in] Christian Darrisaw.”

It may certainly present a tantalizing opportunity for Brady, who retired from football after the 2022 NFL campaign.

However, just how much would Brady have left at this point?

While he was actually pretty productive in his final season, throwing for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions, Brady will turn 47 years old in August and just sat out for a year.

Would his body be able to handle the rigors of another 17-game campaign? Plus, Brady is getting set to begin a new chapter as minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

We’ll see what Tom Brady decides to do, but the idea of him actually returning is probably a pipe dream.
