4 perfect targets for the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft

USA TODAY Sports

Cesar Ruiz

While it isn’t the flashiest of moves, it’s important that the Dolphins begin constructing a formidable offensive line. Regardless of who their next franchise quarterback is, Miami needs to make it a priority to keep them upright.

As it currently stands, there’s a decent chance that the Dolphins select an offensive tackle in the first round. After taking a tackle in the first round, it would be wise to add an interior offensive lineman in the second.

Heading into next season, Michael Deiter, Daniel Gilgore, and Evan Boehm could be the Dolphins’ starter in the interior. Among them, Boehm is slated to become an unrestricted free agent.

Given that, drafting Cesar Ruiz would be a fantastic choice for a team that quickly needs to bulk up their offensive line. Ruiz started in 31 games at Michigan and is capable of playing both center and guard. Above all, he is extremely powerful and figures to excel as an interior lineman in the NFL.
