The San Francisco 49ers have advanced to the NFC Championship Game for a second straight season. They are hoping to have more success this time around, as their hopes of advancing were dashed by the Philadelphia Eagles after all of their active quarterbacks were injured in the game.

One of those quarterbacks was Brock Purdy. Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has had as good of a start to his NFL career as any player in league history. Yet, for some reason, what he has accomplished has been dismissed by some people.

Purdy landed in an ideal situation playing for head coach Kyle Shanahan, an offensive maestro, and being surrounded by All-Pros. But, the quarterback still has to make the plays and to this point, Purdy has responded whenever his number is called.

NFL News & Rumors: Brock Purdy, Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers Updates

The criticism for Purdy is something that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk believes needs to stop. His fellow wide receiver, Deebo Samuel, recently came to the defense of their quarterback and now Auyik has done the same on social media.

“Y’all need to stop the DS’n and turn on the tape! That’s everybody,” Aiyuk wrote on his Instagram story. “Everybody.” (H/T Heavy)

Purdy has been the target of many trolls on social media, but he continues to prove them wrong. While he didn’t play his best game against the Green Bay Packers during the Divisional Round, he still helped guide the team to a 24-21 victory.

NFL News & Rumors: Brock Purdy, Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers Updates

The 49ers and Purdy will now host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game. There will be a lot of storylines pitting Mr. Irrelevant against a former No. 1 pick, as Jared Goff was selected first overall in 2016.

However, the draft position is truly the only thing different about Purdy and Goff. Both have played at a high level this season and helped put their teams in a position to play in a Super Bowl. Sunday’s game between the Lions and 49ers should be a great one and whoever advances will have certainly earned the chance to compete for a Lombardi Trophy.
