Could Bo Nix become the next quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams? According to Colin Cowherd, a prominent sports commentator, there’s a possibility they take him in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Cowherd suggests that the Rams might use their No. 19 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft to snag the talented Oregon Ducks quarterback.
For the first time in almost ten years, the Rams find themselves holding a coveted first-round draft pick, sitting at No. 19 overall, as reported by Pro Football Network.
Cowherd believes that despite the Rams having defensive needs, especially with the retirement of Aaron Donald leaving a gap at defensive tackle, selecting Nix remains a viable option.
“The Rams are a sleeper for a lot of people. They’re one of those teams that has been very successful without first-round picks. This is their first first-rounder in a long time, and they’re at 19. I can see the Rams sliding down if Bo Nix is there. I’ve been in a war room before and you start going, ‘Well, the next four teams don’t need quarterbacks.’ At 19, you’re getting into, like, Dallas may [take a quarterback], but they need some pieces. I can see the Rams going and saying, ‘We’re going to take Bo Nix and he’s going to sit for two years.’ I could totally see that happening.”
According to CBS Sports, the Rams’ primary needs in the draft are on the defensive line and at the edge rusher positions. While quarterback might not seem like an immediate need, considering they have Matthew Stafford as QB1 and recently acquired Jimmy Garoppolo as QB2, the future of the position raises questions with Stafford being 36 years old. Additionally, there’s intrigue surrounding Stetson Bennett’s NFL prospects.
ESPN ranks Nix as the 43rd-best overall player in the upcoming draft and the fifth-best quarterback, trailing behind Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy. So, would investing the No. 19 overall pick on Nix be a wise decision?
The Rams’ draft strategy remains to be seen, but the buzz surrounding the potential selection of a quarterback in the first round is certainly gaining traction.
