Richie James
Seventh-round rookie James has caused a stir in training camp and the quickness that has seen him earn rave reviews was on show at Levi’s Stadium as he caught four balls for 46 yards and the winning touchdown.
James demonstrated body control to adjust to a ball thrown behind him from Jimmy Garoppolo and move the chains in the opening quarter.
However, it was his toughness that caught the eye on the decisive score.

James benefited from a rub from tight end Ross Dwelley and held on to Nick Mullens’ pass despite being hit by two defenders.
Between second-round rookie Dante Pettis, 2017 fifth-round pick Trent Taylor and Marquise Goodwin and Aldrick Robinson, the 49ers have an abundance of receivers who can excel in the slot receiver role James appears best suited for.
Yet in his display against the Cowboys James looked every bit a player who belongs in the NFL. His case for making the 53-man roster is already a very strong one.
