Mostert Will Lead All Rushers with 125+ Yards

The San Francisco 49ers owe a large portion of their success from last season towards their fantastic rotation of running backs. While it is highly likely they take a committee approach again, expect Raheem Mostert to come out the gate hot.

Mostert was incredible during the 49ers’ playoff run. His incredible speed and decisive running are what make him such an explosive back. After an incredible playoff run, the 49ers may want to get him going early in this game.

While Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon will certainly get their touches, they do not have the upside as a runner that Mostert does. The 49ers had a very good offensive line last season. It may have gotten better after the addition of former Second-Team All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl tackle Trent Williams.

The 49ers will likely try to keep the ball out of Kyler Murray’s hands. That means controlling the clock and running the football. This could be big for Mostert, whose big-play ability is hard to contain. Check out some of his biggest plays in the four-touchdown performance against the Packers in the NFC Championship.

The 49ers are a running football team. Head coach Kyle Shanahan does a great job of designing creative run plays. Mostert is the back with the most potential in this backfield. If he plays well in Week 1, he may take over as the primary back. Racking up at least 125 yards should get it done.
