5. David Montgomery Struggles Again For Bears
There was hype around David Montgomery heading into this season despite the fact that he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry as a rookie. This could have been chalked up to a banged-up offensive line so he was given the benefit of the doubt. In 2020, Montgomery has struggled.
Montgomery has not scored a touchdown all season and has yet to go over 100 yards in any game. His season-high came in Week 2 with 82 yards against a bad New York Giants’ defense. They will be facing a Bucs’ defense that held the Chargers to just 46 yards on the ground.
Justin Herbert was the team’s leading rusher with 14 yards. For Montgomery, there is not much to fall back on. The Bears’ do not have a strong passing attack.
At this point, the Bears are just looking for something offensively. Montgomery will need to have a breakout game if the Bears want to hang around in this one but it is not likely.
