5. Jerick McKinnon Has Huge Outing
While the 49ers’ pass rush will be depleted because of Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas being sidelined, their backfield will be just as impacted in Week 3. Both Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman have been ruled out.
The role McKinnon has filled for the 49ers has been minimal so far this season. He has received just three carries in each of his two performances — including the 55-yard run he had on 3rd & Very Long to pickup a first down for San Francisco.
The 49ers will plan to use McKinnon in an every-down role when they take on the Giants in Week 3. With the proficient blocking of San Francisco’s offensive line and a need to help fill-in quarterback Nick Mullens, McKinnon will deliver.
Expect a strong outing from McKinnon in this matchup. He has shown an ability to pull off explosive plays at times throughout his career but will need to prove he can be consistent. He will do so by racking up at least 75 rushing yards with a touchdown.
