5 major X-Factors for the Dolphins in Week 3 vs. Jaguars

1. Ryan Fitzpatrick

The question going into this week is what will we see from Ryan Fitzpatrick. In the season opener, he was about as bad as you could get. However, last week he had an excellent game and almost took down the Bills.

Fitzpatrick is the definition of a boom-or-bust quarterback. He is either putting up fantastic numbers and giving your team a shot to win, or he is making terrible decisions that make it almost impossible to win.

Fitzpatrick is going up against a weak passing defense in Jacksonville. However, the Jaguars pass rush has yet to come alive. They were facing two of the best teams at protecting the QB in the first two weeks. This week is the first time the defensive line is going against a subpar offensive line.

If the defensive ring can ramp up pressure on the QB, it will help the secondary a lot. Fitzpatrick has to play smart this week or else the Dolphins will be in trouble.

With no rush to bring in Tua Tagovailoa, there’s a good chance Fitzpatrick remains the starter throughout the year. The Dolphins will need the good, poised veteran QB like last week. If he can limit the turnovers the Dolphins may have a shot at stealing some games. However, if he turns the ball over, Miami will have another year full of struggle.
