With the dead period for the NFL offseason on full display, fans of the Green Bay Packers were ecstatic to tune in to Aaron Rodgers’ press conference. It is the first time we have heard from Rodgers following the 2020 NFL Draft that saw the Packers trade up in the first round for Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.
Rodgers was obviously asked a ton of questions about the selection of Love, but he was also asked about expectations for the upcoming 2020 NFL season.
In response to the question, Rodgers had a very intriguing response. He did make it clear that he expects the Packers to be in the mix.
That quote resembles the sentiment that the media and most fans have for the 2020 season. Obviously, the Packers were one of the elite teams in the NFL last season. They finished the 2019 season with a 13-3 regular season record and made a run to the NFC Championship Game.
Green Bay didn’t make a ton of offseason moves and they also lost some key players. Among those key losses were offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga, tight end Jimmy Graham, and linebacker Blake Martinez. The Packers did go out and bring in linebacker Christian Kirksey, offensive tackle Rick Wagner, and wide receiver Devin Funchess.
It will be interesting to see what the 2020 NFL season has in store for the Packers. Our predictions have the Packers finishing with a 12-4 record.
Rodgers and the Packers are absolutely going to be a team to watch in the NFC. They have their work cut out for them, but Rodgers is absolutely right that Green Bay should be in the mix at the end of the season.
