3. New England Patriots
When Tom Brady elected to depart the New England Patriots in order to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, many expected the Buffalo Bills to be a legitimate favorite to win the AFC East. Since then, the many opt-outs the Patriots have experienced has not helped their odds either.
There is still a legitimate pathway for the Patriots to be able to win the AFC East in 2020. The signing of Cam Newton was a step in the right direction considering the upside that brings to the table at the quarterback position is substantially higher than that of Jarrett Stidham.
The possibilities with Newton’s mobility and ability to make plays as a running threat present plenty of intriguing options for the Patriots’ offense. Now, imagine they managed to add Alvin Kamara to the unit? It would be a substantial upgrade over Sony Michel and James White.
Providing Newton with a big-play threat like Kamara that can thrive on carries and as a receiver out of the backfield would be exciting. If receivers like Mohamed Sanu and N’Keal Harry find their rhythm in addition, the Patriots would be quite difficult to stop.
