Kirk Cousins agreed to sign with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week, ending his six-year tenure with the Minnesota Vikings.

On Wednesday, Cousins took to social media to say goodbye to the Vikings and thank the fans of Minnesota.

“Today’s a bit of a bittersweet day for me,” Cousins said in a video posted to his X account. “I’m in Atlanta now and a little later today I’m going to be signing with the Falcons. That also means I’ve got to say goodbye to Minnesota and the Minnesota Vikings so that makes it tough.”

Cousins, who played his collegiate football at Michigan State, was originally selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career with the Redskins before signing with the Vikings in 2018.

“I just want to say thank you,” Cousins continued. “You’ve meant so much to my family, and as a result of your impact Minnesota will always hold a special place in the hearts of me and my family.”

During his run in Minnesota, Cousins made three trips to the Pro Bowl and seemed to be well on his way to earning a fourth Pro Bowl selection this past season before tearing his Achilles in Week 8.

Prior to the injury, Cousins had thrown for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 103.8.

Not only was Cousins likely to make the Pro Bowl, but he also may have contended for the MVP award.

Overall, Cousins has notched four Pro Bowl nods throughout his NFL career, including one in Washington back in 2016.

Unfortunately, the 35-year-old was unable to take the Vikings past the Divisional Round of the playoffs, leaving his career in Minnesota feeling somewhat incomplete.

We’ll see if Kirk Cousins can enjoy better playoff results in Atlanta.
