Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith is loving what he is seeing from his team, and he issued a warning to the rest of the NFL following his team’s dominant 38-6 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 7.
“As I look at it, man, from top to bottom, D-line, linebackers, secondary, I don’t really see any weaknesses,” Smith said of the Ravens’ defense, according to Max Gamarra of Fan Nation. “And if we’re all on our game, it’s very hard to move the ball on us, especially score. I know they got that one late but hey, live to fight another day. We’ll bounce back.”
The Ravens jumped out to a 35-0 lead over the Lions, but allowed a touchdown late in the third quarter that ended their hopes of a shutout.
Regardless, it was a phenomenal effort on all fronts for Baltimore.
The Ravens racked up 503 total yards on the day and averaged an incredible 9.1 yards per play. Meanwhile, the Lions totaled 337 yards and logged just 4.7 yards per play. In addition, Baltimore sacked Lions quarterback Jared Goff five times while not allowing a sack on its own end.
Smith logged eight tackles and one pass defended in the win. On the season overall, Smith has totaled 71 tackles, 1.5 sacks and five passes defended.
The 26-year-old is in his first full campaign with the Ravens after coming over in a midseason trade with the Chicago Bears last year.
Roquan Smith, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by the Bears with the eighth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
He spent four-and-a-half incredibly productive seasons in Chicago but didn’t finally get the recognition he deserved until 2022, when he made his first Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection.
Baltimore is 5-2 and will take on the struggling Arizona Cardinals this weekend.
