Foles’ Prior Connection to Matt Nagy

Many offseason acquisitions for teams across the NFL will have to find a way to get acclimated despite the strange circumstances of the offseason. For Nick Foles, it helps that he already has a prior connection to Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy.

When Foles was leading the Philadelphia Eagles’ run for a Super Bowl victory, Nagy was his quarterbacks coach. With that comes strong familiarity for Nagy in terms of what Foles is capable of achieving and how he fits in the offensive system.

There is already strong comfort Foles has with Nagy and he discussed the intriguing outlook of having him ‘calling the shots’ as the head coach. Let’s not forget, Nagy compared Foles learning the offensive system to ‘riding a bike’ earlier in the offseason.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback in Week 1, Foles will be ready to step in when his number is called. Not being able to work with the wide receivers or have the preseason to get adjusted will make things more difficult, but not impossible.
