After Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets made comments about Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton, the head coach has responded.

With NFL Training Camps underway, there has been some drama between the Jets and the Broncos. This drama is originally stemming from comments that Sean Payton made about current Jets’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Hackett was the head coach for just one season with the Broncos last year before he was let go by the organization because of their disappointing season. Hackett is now with the Jets and reunited with Aaron Rodgers, who he was the offensive coordinator for with the Green Bay Packers.

Somewhat shockingly, Payton took some shots at Hackett about his coaching style last season with the Broncos, and that resulted in the Jets quarterback defending his coach and going back after Payton. Despite being outspoken with his comments about Hackett, Payton did not seem to want to put more fuel on the fire in response to Rodgers.

Seeing this type of drama is fairly rare in the NFL, especially with a coach speaking negatively in public about another coach.

Now, the Broncos and the Jets will be playing each other this season, and the comments made by Payton certainly won’t be forgotten by Hackett or Rodgers. While Hackett wasn’t successful as the head coach of the Broncos, he has had success with Rodgers as a coach with the Packers.

One of the reasons Rodgers came to the Jets was likely because of his relationship with Hackett, and winning two MVPs with him as the offensive coordinator shows the two work well together.

It will certainly be interesting to see when these two teams square off if there is a little extra juice to the matchup. Both teams will certainly be hoping to make the playoffs this year, and you can bet Rodgers won’t forget about the comments made by Payton.
