The Buffalo Bills will battle the Miami Dolphins for the AFC East division title this Sunday, and based on the history of Josh Allen and the Bills against the Dolphins, this could bode well for Buffalo.
However, Allen is not allowing his past success against Miami to affect how he approaches this game.
“I think every game is different, each game has its specific flow,” Allen said, via Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News. “I’ve played well against them in the past, but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna play well against them this week, unless I prepare well and work hard in practice and get on the same page as receivers. And the five guys up front do their job and the receivers catch the ball, so it takes everybody to do that. We’re looking forward to having a good week of practice and putting our best foot forward.”
Since entering the NFL as a first-round draft pick in 2018, Allen has gone 10-2 against the Dolphins (including playoffs). He has won his last three meetings versus Miami, including Week 4 earlier this season when Allen went 21-for-25 with 320 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-20 victory. That marked Allen’s best performance of the campaign to date.
On the season overall, Allen has thrown for 3,947 yards, 27 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.5. In addition, he has rushed for 457 yards and 15 scores.
It should be noted that Allen has had some recent struggles, as he went just 15-for-30 with 169 yards and a pick in the Bills’ Week 17 victory over the New England Patriots. He registered a 53.3 passer rating, his lowest mark of 2023. Since Week 10, Allen has logged passer ratings under 70 three times and has only been over 90 twice, so he has been laboring for quite some time.
Hopefully for Buffalo, Josh Allen can rediscover his form from previous meetings against the Dolphins to lead his team to a win—and a division crown—in South Beach in the regular-season finale.
If the Bills lose this game, they may find themselves out of the playoff picture entirely depending on what else happens in the AFC this weekend.
