Buzz Growing That Bills Could Trade Star Receiver Stefon Diggs

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, which has led to growing speculation that they could trade wide receiver Stefon Diggs this coming offseason.

Connor Livesay of The 33rd Team, for example, includes Diggs on his list of surprise players that could be traded in the spring.

Livesay notes Diggs’ rather strange dynamic with quarterback Josh Allen and his past social media posts as reasons to believe that he may not be entirely content in Buffalo. Throw in the fact that the Bills have not exactly been lighting it up this year, and it does not seem out of the realm of possibility that Diggs could request a trade during the offseason.

Diggs is in his fourth year with Buffalo and has logged 87 catches for 993 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He is just two years into a five-year, $96 million contract, so moving him might actually be a bit tricky when you take that into consideration.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Vikings and didn’t really break out until his fourth year when he caught 102 passes for 1,021 yards and nine scores.

Diggs didn’t really take his game to another level, however, until he was traded to the Bills in March 2020.

In his debut campaign in Buffalo, the Gaithersburg, Md. native led the league in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535) to go along with eight touchdowns. He followed that up by snaring 103 balls for 1,225 yards and 10 scores in 2021, and last season, he hauled in 108 grabs for 1,429 yards while reaching the end zone 11 times.

Stefon Diggs has made three straight trips to the Pro Bowl and also has a First-Team All-Pro selection under his belt.

The Bills are 7-6 and will be fighting for their playoff lives when they host the Dallas Cowboys in what one might consider a must-win situation this weekend.
