Carolina Panthers: 3 Reasons Cam Newton Will Bounce Back in 2018

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

He Loves to Have Fun

On the surface, this may seem like an odd reason to claim that a player is going to have a successful season. But with his health no longer an issue, plenty of weapons around him, and an offensive coordinator with proven success, all the pieces are in place for Newton to have a lot of fun in 2018.

Newton is not a guy who carries himself like a typical quarterback. He enjoys elaborate end zone celebrations and will even taunt opposing players at times. The more fun he’s having, the better the Panthers are doing.

Sure, his actions can sometimes be to his detriment. Newton wears his emotions on his sleeves and that has come back to bite him in the past. But when he and the Panthers are flying high, his demeanor really seems to rub off on his teammates and give them added confidence.

Look no further than 2015 for proof of what Newton — and the Panthers — can do when he’s truly having fun. And with what he has to work with this year, there should be a lot of fun times ahead.
