Bears Urged To Make Shocking Wide Receiver Trade

The Chicago Bears have been playing some better football over the past several weeks, so could they potentially buy at the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline? Bleacher Report’s NFL staff says that Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton could represent a fine target for them.

Sutton may seem like a rather strange addition for a Bears club that is just 2-5 and appears headed for an inevitable roster retool this offseason. However, when you think about it, it does make some sense.

Chicago could use some more weapons for young quarterback Justin Fields, and Sutton is actually under contract through the end of next season.

Plus, while Sutton isn’t young, he isn’t exactly ancient at 28 years old, so he could potentially hang around in the Windy City for an extended period of time.

Sutton has been a rather competitive member in the Broncos’ aerial attack this season, logging 31 catches for 351 yards and five touchdowns. That puts him on pace for his best campaign since 2019, when he hauled in 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six scores before tearing his ACL in Week 1 of the following year.

Denver also appears to be in worse shape than the Bears at the moment, as the Broncos may have to completely blow things up in the spring. Trading Sutton would open up some cap space for the club, and it would also give them another draft asset to help facilitate a rebuild.

Chicago currently employs DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney at wide out, but Mooney has been a tremendous disappointment over the last couple of years and may very well walk via free agency this spring. The Bears definitely could use some depth behind Moore, and Courtland Sutton would fill that need nicely.

We’ll see if Chicago gets active over the next week.
