According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Philadelphia Eagles defensive pass-rusher Haason Reddick is reportedly on the trade block, sparking interest across the league. One team that could be intrigued by this development is the Indianapolis Colts, led by general manager Chris Ballard.

Despite setting a franchise record with 51 sacks in 2023, the Colts struggled to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks.

While Pro Football Focus highlights the contributions of DeForest Buckner and Samson Ebukam in disrupting quarterbacks, the lack of depth beyond them was evident. The drop-off in production from other defensive linemen exposed a vulnerable secondary, leading to Indianapolis ranking 28th in points allowed per game (24.4) in the NFL.

Reddick presents an enticing option for the Colts, given his track record as a reliable sack artist and pressure creator. Over the past four seasons, he has accumulated an impressive 50.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, and 218 tackles, showcasing his disruptive presence on the field.

However, acquiring Reddick would require a trade package that makes sense for both parties, potentially involving draft picks or other playmakers. While many teams will be vying for his services, the Colts must also focus on developing their own talent, such as former first-rounder Kwity Paye.

Paye showed promise with a career-high 8.5 sacks in his third year but needs to improve his pass-rushing consistency to justify a long-term investment from the Colts.

While it may not be the most probable outcome, the addition of Haason Reddick would address the Colts’ need for a dominant pass rusher and could bolster the entire defensive front. Ultimately, it will depend on Ballard’s willingness to construct a compelling trade package that persuades the Eagles to part ways with Reddick.
