Anyone who has been watching the Indianapolis Colts during their organized team activities has had their eyes set on quarterback Anthony Richardson. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has been turning some heads with his performance thus far in practice.

He has looked to be much further along in his development than some analysts and draft evaluators thought. The Colts have been very happy with what they have seen thus far, but there is still work to do when it comes to taking over the starting job against Gardner Minshew.

Minshew has a leg up already knowing the offense from spending two seasons playing under head coach Shane Steichen when he was offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. That will certainly give him an advantage in the quarterback battle as Anthony Richardson is not only adjusting to life as an NFL player but learning an entirely new playbook.

Alas, if Anthony Richardson can develop on the field as quickly as he has off of it, the Colts will be in business. He has shown that he is already a pro when it comes to handling the media as he recently had a hilarious exchange with members of the press.

The Florida product was asked about what his impression of being a pro and being in the building has been thus far and if it has met the expectations he had. Anthony Richardson then brought out his inner Marshawn Lynch, providing a very funny response before getting into his answer.

Not surprisingly, virtually all of the responses to that video were positive. Colts fans are already falling in love with Anthony Richardson, who could be the long-term franchise quarterback the team has been seeking for years.

That kind of infectious energy is something that the Colts’ locker room will be able to feed off of. If Anthony Richardson can toe that line of keeping things light-hearted and laid back while also providing leadership and commanding respect from his peers, things are going to go very well for the franchise.
