Cowboys: 3 early goals for running back Ezekiel Elliott in 2020

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

60+ receptions

While Elliott is more than capable as a runner, he’s a bit underrated by some as a receiving threat. Over the course of his four seasons, Elliott has managed to haul in 189 receptions for 1,619 yards and eight touchdowns.

Regardless of the status of Dak Prescott, Elliott should continue to be a reliable target out of the backfield for whoever is throwing him the ball. Prior to the 2020 campaign, Elliott’s career-high in receptions came in 2018, when he corraled 77 receptions.

Even though he probably won’t garner 77+ receptions next season, it’s definitely possible that he ends the season with 60+ receptions. Just a year after getting a lucrative extension from the Cowboys, Elliott needs to continue to prove that he’s an elite dual-threat running back.
