Denver Broncos: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 2 vs. Oakland Raiders

USA TODAY Sports

Limit the Turnovers

Last week, one of the only negatives in their Week 1 win, was the three interceptions thrown by Keenum. He will need to erase those types of mistakes if the Broncos want to win the AFC West this year. It also can allow a team like the Raiders to shift the momentum in their favor, making the game more difficult for the Broncos.

If Keenum doesn’t throw those three interceptions last week, the Broncos are likely walking out of Week 1 with a blowout win. They allowed the Seahawks to stay in with inexcusable mistakes that will need to be cleaned up this week.

The Broncos are playing a Raiders defense that lacks much talent. With the departure of Khalil Mack, they only have one proven pass rusher in Bruce Irvin. One guy can’t do it by himself though and their secondary is as unproven as they come.

In their starting secondary, they’re hoping guys like Gareon Conley and Karl Joseph can be impact players. They were nowhere to be found in Week 1 against the Rams. They struggled to stop anything, allowing 365 total yards and 33 points. The Broncos would love to put up 30 points on the scoreboard against their divisional foes.

If the Broncos can take advantage of the Raiders weak defense and limit their turnovers, they’ll be walking out of the Mile High City on a two-game win streak to kick off the season.
