TEs to start in Week 1
Panthers’ Ian Thomas (vs. Raiders): Upon the arrival of Teddy Bridgewater for the Carolina Panthers, some believe members of the offense could useful in fantasy football. While he’s limited with his arm talent, Bridgewater is efficient and tends to target his tight ends favorably.
As a result, Ian Thomas should get a chance to have a breakout season with the Panthers in 2020. Thomas, who is replacing veteran Greg Olsen, is a capable receiving threat, averaging nine yards per reception on 52 receptions in his first two seasons.
In his debut with Bridgewater, Thomas will square off against the Las Vegas Raiders, who surrendered the fifth-most fantasy points to TEs in 2019. It will be worth monitoring Thomas’s status in Week 1 though, as he deals with a nagging toe injury.
Eagles’ Dallas Goedert (vs. Washington): In what seems like déjà vu for the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is already dealing with injuries at wide receiver. Rookie Jalen Reagor will miss the beginning of the season with a torn labrum and Alshon Jeffery is still recovering from a foot ailment that he endured last season.
In light of that, both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert could see even more targets in Philadelphia’s offense until they get healthier at wide receiver. Goedert has already proven that he can be effective with Ertz on the field.
It also helps that Goedert will face the Washington Football Team in Week 1, who gave up the fourth-most fantasy points to TEs in 2019.
Other TEs to consider in Week 1: Saints’ Jared Cook (vs. Buccaneers), Steelers’ Eric Ebron (vs. Giants), Broncos’ Noah Fant (vs. Titans)
