QBs to start in Week 10
Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa (vs. Chargers): It is officially Tua time for the Miami Dolphins with Tua Tagovailoa starting at quarterback and he may be proving to be a viable starter in fantasy football this late in the season. After not having to do much in his debut against the Los Angeles Rams, the left-handed quarterback would record 21.42 fantasy points in his second start versus the Arizona Cardinals. While he showed a willingness to utilize his legs — as he did at Alabama — Tagovailoa has a favorable matchup in Week 10. The Los Angeles Chargers, who Tua faces this week, has given up an average of 21.51 fantasy points (fourth-most in the NFL) per game to QBs.
Rams’ Jared Goff (vs. Seahawks): Starting whatever QB that faces the porous defense of the Seattle Seahawks has proven to be a successful ploy in 2020. Through the first nine weeks of the season, the Seahawks have allowed 2,980 passing yards and 26.73 fantasy points per game to QBs, both are most in the league. Even though Jared Goff isn’t widely considered a popular choice in fantasy football, he’s more than capable of being a streaming option in Week 10.
Broncos’ Drew Lock (vs. Raiders): Another QB that isn’t a commonplace starter in fantasy football is Drew Lock of the Denver Broncos. The second-year quarterback dealt with a shoulder injury earlier this season and has put together notable outings in back-to-back weeks. In his past two games, Lock has scored six touchdowns — including a rushing touchdown in Week 9 — and has combined for 49.04 fantasy points. Look for Lock to continue his success under center against the Las Vegas Raiders this week, who have given up 21.13 fantasy points (sixth-most in the NFL) per week to QBs.
Other QBs to consider in Week 10: Browns’ Baker Mayfield (vs. Texans), Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Bengals if active), Washington’s Alex Smith (vs. Lions)
QBs to sit in Week 10
Vikings’ Kirk Cousins (vs. Bears): There’s no mistaking the fact that the Minnesota Vikings would prefer to hand the ball off to Dalvin Cook as much as possible and not have Kirk Cousins airing it out 40+ times. Given that, Cousins is a risky QB to play in fantasy football on a week-to-week basis. And when he faces tough tests like the one he will in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears, Cousins is a must-sit player. The Bears have conceded only 10 passing touchdowns (tied for second-fewest in the NFL) and a 60.2 completion percentage (second-lowest in the NFL) to QBs this season.
Lions’ Matthew Stafford (vs. Washington): There was once a time where Matthew Stafford was a must-start in fantasy football. However, those days have passed, especially with Stafford not having Kenny Golladay available in the passing attack. Stafford has averaged 18.8 fantasy points this year when Golladay starts, compared to a mere 13.5 fantasy points when Golladay isn’t active. Besides that, Stafford is dealing with an injury and will square off with a QB-stingy defense in the Washington Football Team. Washington’s defense is currently surrendering only 185.6 passing yards (least in the NFL) per week and has sacked the QB 27 times this season, which is the fourth-most in the NFL.
