AJ Dillon 2020 Fantasy Outlook
Depending on the source, Jones either had 33 or 34 red zone carries and a 60 or 58.6 percent team share of those carries last year. However, there’s no dispute that he was by himself with a league-high 14 red zone rushing touchdowns. Of those, 10 of them were inside the 5-yard line (on 17 carries from the 5-yard line in, via RotoWire). In particular, Dillon (247 pounds) is a threat to that work from very close in.
Via a Reddit threat, Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel answered a question about Dillon’s usage.
it’s possible his role changes mid season, after the bye week or even later as he just gets more experience but I would be lying to you if I were to project a certain type of usage right now.
Dillon is not an advanced pass catcher, and as is the case with rookie running backs the nuances of pass protection are a work-in progress. So Dillon’s role will be limited early, and it may not change in terms of evolution in the passing game for a while.
Dillon’s Fantasy Football Calculator ADP’s look like this (12-team leagues):
Full PPR: RB48 (pick 10.06)
Half-PPR: RB53 (pick 12.03)
Standard: RB53 (12.12)
Having a higher ADP in full PPR is odd, but big picture it’s a distinction with no difference. Dillon’s being drafted as a RB4 or a RB5, and he’s a handcuff/prospective vulture for Jones more than anything. Without an injury significant standalone value will have to wait until at least 2021, when/if Jones is in another uniform.
AJ Dillon 2020 Projection: 135 carries for 590 yards, 5 TD; 10 receptions for 73 yards
