Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Recommendations for Week 3

USA TODAY Sports

WRs to Start in Week 3

Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald (vs. Bears): I know it’s been a rough start for the Cardinals, but Larry Fitzgerald is still fantasy relevant. He’s dealing with an injury, but it isn’t expected to hold him out this week against the Chicago Bears. Fitzgerald could see his best week so far against a Bears defense who has allowed the fourth most points to WRs this year.

Colts’ T.Y Hilton (vs. Eagles): T.Y Hilton is still the top option in the Indianapolis Colts offense. Since quarterback Andrew Luck is back, Hilton is back to being relevant in fantasy again.

Hilton has 36.9 fantasy points through two weeks, leaving him at 18th for WRs. This week he should be productive against a weak Philadephia Eagles secondary. The Eagles allow the sixth most points to WRs this season.

Steelers’ JuJu Smith-Schuster (vs. Buccaneers): JuJu Smith-Schuster has actually outscored Antonio Brown so far this year. He’s a must start now in an offense that loves to throw the ball. Smith-Schuster has a favorable matchup this week against the Buccaneers porous secondary.

It’ll likely be a shootout with both teams having shaky defenses.

Under-the-Radar WRs

Jaguars’ Keelan Cole (vs. Titans): Keelan Cole really showed his worth last week, making this year’s catch of the year already. Cole had a career day, with 116 yards on seven receptions and a touchdown. The Jaguars offense lacks explosiveness, with Cole maybe being able to provide a spark for them. He faces a Tennessee Titans defense who allow the second most points to WRs.

49ers’ Marquise Goodwin (vs. Chiefs): Marquise Goodwin missed last week’s game due to quad injury. It looks like Goodwin is on pace to return this week, against the Chiefs. This game could be a high-scoring contest, leaving Goodwin as a top candidate in the 49ers offense. The Chiefs allow the third most points to WRs so far.

WRs to Sit in Week 3

Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett (vs. Cowboys): Tyler Lockett is indeed the Seahawks top WR currently, with Doug Baldwin being out with injury. The Seahawks offense looks awful right now, making it hard to trust Lockett going forward. He gets a tough matchup this week against a tough Dallas Cowboys defense, which allows the second least amount of points to WRs.

I’m avoiding all Seahawks players right now as long as they continue to struggle.

Giants’ Sterling Shepard (vs. Texans): Sterling Shepard is another WR who is hard to have any faith in right now. The Giants offense, especially the passing game, is atrocious. The only Giants player I’d want right now is running back Saquon Barkley. Shepard will likely struggle to get much going against a Houston Texans defense which allows the fifth least amount of points to WRs.
