Why Hardman should be targeted in fantasy drafts

At the time this article is being written, Hardman is currently being taken as WR49 in ESPN fantasy football drafts. On the other hand, Hardman is also being selected as WR43 in Best Ball formats, according to FantasyPros. Despite being a late-round option, Hardman could cement himself as a reliable starter in fantasy football in 2020.

Once again, in his debut season, Hardman snagged 26 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns. In terms of fantasy football, the big-play wideout scored 119.5 fantasy points in PPR leagues. As a result, he was the 61st highest-scoring wide receiver in fantasy football in 2019.

What was most impressive about Hardman’s rookie season was his ability to be effective in an inconsistent role for the Chiefs. Even though he saw just 45 percent of Kansas City’s offensive snaps, Hardman averaged 20.7 yards per reception. He would also average 13.1 yards per target. Both were the most among wide receivers in the NFL.

In addition to that, Hardman also produced a RACR (receiver air conversion ratio) of 1.17 last season, which was the third-best mark among wide receivers who saw 40+ targets. You can figure out a wide receiver’s RACR by simply dividing his receiving yards by his air yards.

Also, Hardman would post a 146.6 quarterback rating when targeted (most among wide receivers). Provided that, Mahomes will likely be more susceptible to targeting Hardman in his sophomore season with the Chiefs. Lastly, Hardman averaged a spectacular 2.77 fantasy points per target in 2019 (also the most among wide receivers last season).

All signs point to Hardman having a breakout season with the Chiefs in 2020. With Kansas City’s offense being a gold mine for fantasy football, snagging Hardman in the later rounds is a recipe for success.
