Giants’ Tommy DeVito Makes NFL History vs. Packers Week 14

The New York Giants have been on an impressive run since undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito was thrust into the starting lineup. With starting quarterback Daniel Jones suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders and veteran backup Tyrod Taylor already sidelined, the team turned to DeVito to lead the offense.

The results have been surprisingly positive. DeVito has handled himself well and the offense has looked better with him under center than at any point this season with Jones leading the way.

Against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, the good times continued rolling. DeVito and the Giants’ offense took over with 1:33 remaining in the game and he drove them right down the field for Randy Bullock to knock through a game-winning 37-yard field goal.

It capped off another strong showing for DeVito, who is making all of the right plays to keep his team in games. Against the Packers, he completed 17-of-21 passes for 158 yards, throwing one touchdown. He made plays with his legs as well, rushing for 71 yards on 10 carries.

NFL News & Rumors: Tommy DeVito & New York Giants Updates

With that performance, DeVito made NFL history. According to OptaSTATS on X, formerly Twitter, only one starting NFL quarterback has completed 80 percent of their passes, rushed for 70+ yards, committed zero turnovers and was not sacked in the same game. That quarterback is DeVito, who did it against Green Bay.

While still a long shot, the Giants’ postseason hopes do remain on life support because of what DeVito has accomplished during his stint as the starter. He moved to 3-1, but there is still plenty of work left to do bone.

The Giants have a huge game against the New Orleans Saints on deck in Week 15. That, like every game the remainder of the season, is a must-win for Big Blue. It will be interesting to see what DeVito can do next and how he adjusts to teams getting more tape on him and begins game-planning different ways to slow him and the Giants down.
