Green Bay’s Defensive Line vs. Dalvin Cook
Finally, the Packers need to focus on making sure that second-year running back Dalvin Cook doesn’t get going and take pressure off of Kirk Cousins and the Vikings’ passing game.
Cook is one of the most talented all-around backs in the league. He tore his ACL last season after having a couple breakout performances and didn’t do anything too crazy in Week 1 vs. the 49ers. In that game, he carried the football 16 times for 40 yards and caught six passes for 55 yards.
Kenny Clark, Dean Lowry, and Muhammad Wilkerson will have to shut down the ground game. The linebackers will also have to chip in. Antonio Morrison will be asked to make some plays in the middle of the field.
If Green Bay can slow Cook down and force more pressure onto Cousins, it will give their secondary a chance to force mistakes. Mike Pettine’s defense has a lot more playmaking potential in the defensive backfield, which is what the Packers should focus on trying to take advantage of this week.
