A few weeks ago, Jordan Love was the toast of the town in Green Bay. He had led the Packers to a 2-1 record over the first three games of the season, capped by a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Saints.
However, since then, Love has fallen on hard times.
After throwing seven touchdowns and just one interception over his first three contests, Love has totaled one touchdown and five picks in his last two games, resulting in a pair of Packers losses.
Love has looked so shaky recently that some are already beginning to wonder if Green Bay should be seeking out alternatives under center.
Sayre Bedinger of FanSided listed off a few scenarios this week, naming Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and Dallas Cowboys signal-caller Dak Prescott as potential replacements.
Cousins is set to be a free agent this offseason, and all signs are pointing to him and the Vikings parting ways. After all, he is 35 years old, and Minnesota appears likely to begin rebuilding.
The thing is, Cousins is still playing at a high level, so the Packers could bring him in on a short-term deal to see if he can elevate the franchise in a one or two-year window.
As far as Prescott, the Cowboys may be starting to sour on their franchise quarterback. Since an outstanding campaign in 2021 where Prescott threw 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, the 30-year-old has regressed considerably, totaling 28 touchdowns and 19 picks since last season. As a matter of fact, Prescott led the NFL with 15 interceptions in 2022 in spite of only playing 12 games.
Unlike Kirk Cousins, however, Dak Prescott is under contract for the long haul, meaning that the Vikings would have to work out some sort of trade for the veteran.
Regardless, it appears that Love may not be the definitive long-term answer for Green Bay at quarterback after all. At least for now.
