Cam Newton isn’t buying all of the Tom Brady comeback talk.

During a recent episode of his 4th and 1 podcast, Newton said that he feels Brady talking about a potential return is essentially “clickbait.”

Newton is almost certainly right.

Brady retired after the 2022 campaign. He was 45 years old then. He will be 47 years old at the start of next season.

Yes, Brady was still productive in his final season, throwing for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But he is entering his upper 40s and just took a year off. It’s hard to imagine his body—at this age—can re-adjust to the rigors of professional football.

Brady is probably just looking for a way to stay in the limelight. After all, it must be strange for him to not be the center of attention during football season after attracting massive media coverage for over two decades.

Could he potentially return if there is a quarterback injury somewhere? Who knows. The San Francisco 49ers did try and convince him to return before last season started, so there is probably still interest in him around the league.

But would Brady have real interest in coming back?

Let’s remember that Brady is preparing to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and he also has a massive broadcasting deal with Fox lined up for 2024.

Chances are, Tom Brady will stay retired. As he should. He is the greatest of all-time regardless.
