Green Bay Packers Linked To Odell Beckham Jr. In Free Agency

The Green Bay Packers boast an impressive stable of young wide receivers, but could they add a seasoned veteran like Odell Beckham Jr. to the mix this offseason?

David Latham of Last Word On Sports thinks so, naming the Packers the best potential landing spot for Beckham in free agency this spring.

Beckham spent this season with the Baltimore Ravens, playing in 14 games and catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

While Beckham is clearly not the same dynamic threat he once was years ago, he is still someone who can produce as an auxiliary option in the right offense.

Given that Green Bay already has a quartet of wide outs that includes Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks, Beckham would not be asked to do a whole lot in the offense.

The question is, would Beckham be satisfied with that type of role?

While Beckham did not exactly post explosive numbers in 2023, he was actually the second-leading wide receiver on the Ravens. He almost certainly would be the No. 2 guy on the Packers, and given his history of antics, you have to wonder if Beckham would be okay accepting a lesser role.

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the New York Giants with the 12th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Giants, making the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons. However, he eventually wore out his welcome and was dealt to the Cleveland Browns. After spending two-and-a-half seasons with the Browns, Beckham landed with the Los Angeles Rams midway through the 2021-22 campaign and helped the Rams win a Super Bowl.

Beckham then sat out all of 2022 before joining the Ravens last offseason.

Green Bay doesn’t necessarily need a receiver, but if Odell Beckham Jr. comes cheap and is willing to move further down the depth chart, he might be a good fit for the Packers.
