Insider Reveals Seahawks’ Potential Replacement For Pete Carroll

Pete Carroll, Seahawks, NFL Rumors
NFL Analysis Network

The Seattle Seahawks shocked a lot of people in the football world with the announcement they made on Wednesday afternoon. Long-time head coach Pete Carroll will no longer be filling that position, as the two sides amicably agreed to a role change.

Carroll will be taking over an advisory role within the organization, ending his tenure as head coach of the team after 14 seasons. He experienced a ton of success with the franchise, as he is their all-time leader in wins and brought the team their first Super Bowl victory.

Replacing a person of Carroll’s caliber will not be easy. Not only did he lead the team to success, but he also became a pillar of the community in Seattle. Replacing Carroll the coach is one thing, but having to replace Carroll, the person will be a tall task as well.

Who could the Seahawks look to hire to fill that void? In the opinion of NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, a name to keep an eye on is Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.

Quinn has been with the Cowboys since the 2021 season and has overseen one of the better defensive units in the NFL. He helped transform what was a messy situation on that side of the ball upon his arrival as Dallas finished fifth in points allowed and yardage surrendered in the 2023 regular season.

Prior to being in Dallas, Quinn was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons. He was fired after an 0-5 start in 2020 and is infamously known for being on the sideline for the 28-3 blown lead in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

NFL News & Rumors: Pete Carroll & Seattle Seahawks Updates

What makes him such an intriguing fit for the Seahawks is that he knows what the organization is about. Before he took the job in Atlanta, he was the defensive coordinator in Seattle for two seasons under Carroll. In 2009 and 2010, he was the defensive line coach before leaving for a two-year stint with the Florida Gators in the NCAA.

That familiarity with the city and franchise could make Quinn the favorite for the Seahawks job. There aren’t many jobs around the league that would lead Quinn to leaving Dallas, but this could be one of them.
