The Kansas City Chiefs held their Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, and during the event, star defensive lineman Chris Jones said he will be back with the Chiefs next season.

“I need three of those rings baby,” Jones said while addressing those in attendance, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “We ain’t done yet. We ain’t done yet. Kansas City, we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby! Woo! I wanna be here this year, next year and the year after.”

Jones is slated to hit free agency next month, and it has been widely speculated that the Chiefs will not be able to keep him due to financial constraints.

The 29-year-old even acknowledged before the Super Bowl that it could be his last game in Kansas City.

However, if Jones is willing to accept some sort of hometown discount, that may obviously change things.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

It didn’t take long for Jones to establish himself as one of the best defensive linemen in football, as he racked up 40 tackles, 15.5 sacks, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown as soon as his third season.

Oddly enough, Jones did not make the Pro Bowl that year, but he earned the first of five straight Pro Bowl nods in 2019. He has also notched First-Team All-Pro honors two years in a row.

This season, Jones posted 30 tackles and 10.5 sacks. That came after the Houston, Ms. native missed Week 1 due to a contract dispute with Kansas City. The two sides eventually come to terms on a one-year deal.

We’ll see if Chris Jones stays true to his word and ends up back with the Chiefs in 2024.
