Antonio Pierce is now the full-time head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, so he will get to see edge rusher Maxx Crosby for a full season in 2024.
Earlier this week, Pierce was asked about Crosby, and he raved about the star pass rusher.
“I thought Maxx played his (expletive) off this year,” Pierce told Heavy Sports. “I don’t think too many guys can say that they have a player on their team that plays almost every single snap on the defensive line with that effort, that intensity, that purpose like him.”
Crosby played in every game this past season, racking up 90 tackles, 14.5 sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
The 26-year-old was the Raiders’ most staunch public supporter of Pierce, even going as far to say that he would consider asking for a trade if Las Vegas didn’t retain him.
Pierce took over as head coach in an interim role after the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels at the trade deadline. Before Pierce, Las Vegas was 3-5, but it proceeded to go a respectable 5-4 under Pierce. That included a 63-point outburst in a blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers and a win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day.
Crosby and numerous other Raiders players openly endorsed Pierce for 2024, and owner Mark Davis clearly listened.
Maxx Crosby, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Michigan, was selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Colleyville, Tx. native has developed into one of the best pass rushers in football and has logged three consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl.
Las Vegas went 8-9 this past season.
