Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams caused a stir following his team’s Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, criticizing the Raiders’ organizational culture and stating that he did not have time to just wait around as the club continued to struggle.

Adams’ comments prompted some to question if the star could ultimately request to be moved between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

Later on in the week, Adams clarified that his remarks were not necessarily directed toward the coaches or the front office but were more geared toward his teammates.

“For the people that didn’t understand the message, it was not a shot at anybody or directed at the front office here, that was about us as a football team and the players that control things, that have the most control over what happens in the outcome of games,” Adams said, via the Raiders’ official team website.

Las Vegas originally acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers back in March 2022. The club then rewarded Adams with a five-year, $141.3 million contract extension.

The 30-year-old was spectacular during his debut season, hauling in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns. However, the Raiders went just 6-11. They have gotten off to a 1-2 start this year.

“I think it is a really cowardly and small thing to take shots at coaches when we do have a lot to do, the most to do with what happens out there on the field,” Adams said. “I’m a pretty direct dude, as you know. So, if it was that, I wouldn’t personally decide to go to the media about it, I would take care of it the way a man is supposed to.”

Even if Davante Adams wasn’t bashing the front office, the fact that he felt the need to criticize his teammates is certainly an indication that he is not happy with his current situation. If the Raiders don’t turn things around soon, Adams’ patience may end up running out.

Las Vegas will take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
