Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs appeared on the podcast of his teammate, edge rusher Maxx Crosby, this week, and during the interview, he explained his mentality following the Week 13 bye.

“I feel like if everybody comes out with that same attitude like I don’t care what your role is, I’m going to win my one-on-one this day,” Jacobs said. “And I think we got enough guys right now with that same mentality, but we also got the guys that’s kind of teetering like, you know, they kind of, you know, got to believe it to see. I feel like we got to get them guys a little bit more on board.”

The Raiders are currently 5-7 and have lost two games in a row, so their playoff chances have taken a big hit in recent weeks.

Las Vegas’ struggles do not come as much of a surprise. Not many expected Jacobs and Co. to contend for a postseason berth this year, and the Raiders have certainly experienced their fair share of adversity throughout 2023. They fired both head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler earlier this season, and their inconsistent play has definitely made things even more difficult.

To be fair to Las Vegas, its schedule has been rather tough of late, as it just lost to two of the AFC’s best teams in the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders’ slate will get a bit more manageable after the bye, as they will battle the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday before hosting the Los Angeles Chargers the following week.

However, things will then get rough again, as Las Vegas will then have to head on the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts before closing out the regular season with the suddenly surging Denver Broncos.

Jacobs himself has struggled this year, rushing for 771 yards and six touchdowns while averaging a meager 3.5 yards per carry. He has also logged 35 catches for 280 yards.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2022 campaign in which he led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards to go along with 12 scores on the ground. Additionally, he averaged a robust 4.9 yards per tote.

Josh Jacobs will be a free agent this coming offseason.
