Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has never really been clear on who his favorite NFL team is. Is it the Dallas Cowboys? Or is it his hometown Cleveland Browns?
Whatever the case may be, James apparently still has an interest in Browns football, as he is urging the club to make a trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
Senior NFL insider Matt Lombardo of Fan Buzz has linked the Browns to Adams, and James could not contain his excitement on X.
Of course, it may just end up being a pipe dream for LeBron James.
Adams is under contract with the Raiders through 2026, so Las Vegas does not have to be in any rush to move him.
However, trade speculation surrounding Adams picked up steam after the club’s 23-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday. Following the defeat, Adams criticized the Raiders’ organizational culture and remarked that he does not have time to wait around, fueling conjecture that the star wide out could ultimately ask to be dealt between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
Las Vegas initially acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers back in March 2022 and were expected to take a significant leap with Adams in two.
Instead, the Raiders went just 6-11 in Adams’ debut season last year and have gotten off to a 1-2 start through the first three weeks of 2023. Additionally, Adams has already experienced a quarterback change in Vegas, as the Raiders cut long-time signal-caller Derek Carr this past offseason and replaced him with Jimmy Garoppolo.
The club’s struggles have certainly been no fault of Adams. The 30-year-old hauled in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns last season, and through three games this year, he has logged 25 catches for 322 yards and three scores.
