The Minnesota Vikings have a chance to achieve an incredible feat with three weeks remaining in the season: having three 1,000-yard receivers for the year (h/t Will Ragatz of Fan Nation).
The Vikings have three pass-catchers who could hit the 1,000-yard mark by the end of 2023: tight end T.J. Hockenson and wide receivers Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson.
Currently, Hockenson has 902 yards, Addison has 824 and Jefferson had 682.
Of course, it isn’t very likely that all three players with finish with 1,000 yards, especially with Nick Mullens throwing them the football. But the possibility is there.
At the very least, Hockenson will probably reach the accomplishment. He is averaging 64.4 yards per game, and he has three contests left to total 98 yards. Barring an injury or some other unforeseen circumstances, he will probably do it, and it will represent the first time in his career that he has racked up 1,000 yards. He registered 902 yards between the Detroit Lions and Vikings last year (he came over in a midseason trade).
Addison is coming off of his best effort of the season, logging six catches for 111 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He is averaging 58.9 yards per game and needs 176 more yards to hit 1,000, so he stands a great chance of getting there, as well.
Then there is Jefferson, who is the biggest wild card here.
Jefferson missed seven games due to a hamstring injury, so his stats have been set back considerably. In two contests since returning, he has totaled nine grabs for 111 yards, so he is still working his way back slowly but surely.
If anyone can rack up over 300 yards in three weeks, it’s Jefferson, especially given that he is averaging 97.4 yards per game this season and recorded a hefty 106.4 yards per game last year. The thing is, that was with Kirk Cousins throwing to him. Can he do that with Mullens under center?
It remains to be seen, but the fact that the Vikings technically do have an outside shot of laying claim to three 1,000-yard pass-catchers is incredible, to say the least.
Minnesota is 7-7 and will take on the Lions this Sunday.
