Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is slated to hit free agency this offseason, and it is not a foregone conclusion that he will return to the Vikings.

As a matter of fact, at this point, it may not even be likely.

There seems to be a divide between Cousins and Minnesota’s front office in terms of what the signal-caller is actually worth, which could ultimately result in the veteran playing his football elsewhere in 2024.

However, Cousins does not seem to be stressing about the situation and is simply allowing things to take shape over the next month.

“That is kind of our attitude,” Cousins said during an appearance on PFT Live. “We do have a lot of work to do between September and February. When it gets to February and March, now we kind of are passive. We hired an agent, the team has their role — let’s just see what happens.”

Cousins initially joined the Vikings back in 2018 when he signed with the club as a free agent.

Since then, the Michigan State product has made three trips to the Pro Bowl and has also thrown for at least 30 touchdowns three times.

This past season, Cousins was on pace to have the best year of his career, but he unfortunately tore his Achilles in Week 8, ending his campaign.

In the eight games Cousins was on the field in 2023, he threw for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 103.8.

Cousins will be 36 years old at the start of next season and is recovering from a major injury, so you can understand why the Vikings may be a bit hesitant to give him a new deal.

We’ll see how things unfold for Kirk Cousins in March.
