New York Giants: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 6 vs. Eagles

Continue to Improve On the Offensive Line

Coming into this season, the Giants were expected to have a vastly improved offensive line. They went out and signed Nate Solder and Patrick Omameh, while drafting Will Hernandez in this year’s draft.

The offensive line got off to a very slow start this season. Through three weeks, they allowed 12 sacks (six came from just Week 2).

The Giants had enough of Ereck Flowers inability to pass protect, benching him in favor of Chad Wheeler in Week 3. Since then, they’ve allowed eight sacks, which isn’t great, but is an improvement I guess.

Just yesterday, the Giants waived Flowers. This officially ends the Flowers experiment in New York.

They tried moving him from left-tackle to right-tackle, but were unable to get any signs of improvement from Flowers.

Now that he’s gone, Giants fans can no longer blame Flowers for the offensive line’s shortcomings.

This week the Giants offensive line will be tested (yet again) by Fletcher Cox and company.

If the Giants expect to win on Thursday, they must protect Eli Manning better than they have so far this season.
