New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers would certainly love to throw the football to DaVante Adams again, but he is remaining mum on the possibility of the Jets pursuing the Las Vegas Raiders star.

During his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers refused to acknowledge the idea of New York potentially trading for his former Green Bay Packers teammate.

“None right now, absolutely none,” Rodgers said when asked if he’s had conversations with the Jets about Adams. “Obviously, creating a championship team is the goal for [general manager] Joe [Douglas] and obviously that’s what [owner] Woody [Johnson] wants. Me coming back is obviously a big part of that, but you need the players around you. Davante Adams is a fantastic player. He also plays for the Raiders.”

Now, just because Rodgers is saying this publicly does not necessarily mean he has not had discussions with the Jets pertaining to Adams behind closed doors.

Look at the operative phrase at the end of Rodgers’ statement: “He also plays for the Raiders.” Adams is under contract in Las Vegas, so Rodgers is obviously going to be careful about what he says. If he did speak with Jets brass about Adams, he is certainly not going to reveal it on national television.

Rodgers and Adams spent eight seasons together with the Packers and were one of the most dynamic duos in the NFL during that span, particularly from 2017 through 2021 when Adams made five Pro Bowl appearances while also earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections.

Green Bay ultimately traded Adams to the Raiders in March 2022, ending their run as a tandem. Rodgers spent one more season with the Packers sans Adams before being dealt to New York last offseason.

Davante Adams does not seem entirely satisfied in Vegas, so we will see if he makes any noise about a potential trade in the coming months. If that’s the case, perhaps a reunion with Aaron Rodgers would be one of the best moves Adams could make.
