New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was offered to be the vice president of presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but it didn’t seem to ever be taken seriously by Rodgers.

Kennedy ultimately went with another candidate, and now, Rodgers can simply focus on getting ready for the 2024 campaign.

Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke on the situation this week, saying that Rodgers was never really going to leave football.

“He (Rodgers) is getting back to football 100 percent,” Johnson said in an interview with Fox News, via Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post. “He never left football. That was a momentary distraction. But he’s back 100 percent. Great leader. I tell the receivers: ‘You count to 10, hold your hands up and look around, the ball will be there.'”

New York initially acquired Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers last offseason and was immediately labeled a Super Bowl contender as a result.

However, Rodgers proceeded to tear his Achilles on the Jets’ first offensive series of the regular season, ending the club’s championship aspirations.

The good news is that Rodgers will be ready for Week 1, and New York addressed its ailing receiving corps last month by signing Mike Williams to put alongside of Garrett Wilson.

The Jets also made some additions to what was an abysmal offensive line, and their defense should once again be one of the top units in football in 2024.

Plus, the AFC East is wide open for the taking, and one could make a legitimate argument that Gang Green has the most talented roster in the division.

We’ll see if Aaron Rodgers can resemble his old self come September.
