D.J. Moore, WR, Panthers
When Devin Funchess is your number one wide receiver on the depth chart entering a new season, you know you have got to be in trouble. Funchess proved in 2017 that he is a formidable receiver in the NFL, but he shouldn’t be the best option on any roster, especially one that lacks depth like that of Carolina.
The Panthers’ front office addressed the position by selecting University of Maryland wide receiver D.J. Moore in the first round. At 6’0″ and 210 pounds, the 24th pick out of Philadelphia, PA plays a much bigger game than he is. The way he throws his weight around and his ability to make jump ball plays make him as dangerous as some of the taller wideouts you’ll find in the NFC South. Moore tallied over 2,000 yards receiving in his three years at Maryland and was just shy of 14 yards per catch.
Moore joins Funchess and newly acquired Torrey Smith to help bolster the weapons for quarterback Cam Newton. Look for Moore to achieve and maintain success as a newcomer on a team with a ton of young talent.
