Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Week 2 matchup: at Green Bay Packers, Sunday, Sept. 20

Strong connection with wide receivers

Stafford is back and that means the ball is going to be in the air a lot for the Lions. Kenny Golladay did not play in Week 1 and is not expected to return against the Packers. Stafford will miss one of his main weapons but will continue to develop a connection with his receivers.

This unit will be better when Golladay returns but Marvin Jones Jr. and Danny Amendola are holding it down. Jones finished with four catches while Amendola led the team with five catches for 81 yards. Tight end T.J. Hockenson had a productive game as well. The vibe on the offensive side of the ball has to feel good with Stafford under center.

50+ pass attempts

The Lions are most likely going to be playing from behind in this game. That is only one reason why the ball will be in the air a ton on Sunday. Stafford likes to stretch the field. The Lions’ rushing attack was led by Adrian Peterson in Week 1 but the passing game is still the strength of their team.

Detroit is going to have to score points if they want to win this game. Stafford will have to hang on to the ball and make some plays against the Packers. This will lead him to 50 pass attempts.
