Sam Darnold, New York Jets
Another obvious candidate for this list would be New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. After another disappointing season in 2019, Darnold needs to step up and show that he can be the quarterback that powers the Jets back into playoff contention.
New York did lose wide receiver Robby Anderson this offseason. However, they added Breshad Perriman and drafted Baylor’s Denzel Mims. The weapons are in place for him to have a successful season.
Darnold has elite potential, but he has yet to grow into that player. He has been working his tail off this offseason and should show major development.
If Darnold can take the next step, the Jets are going to be a team to watch in the new-look AFC East.
