Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has certainly been on a roller coaster in his first season as the Packers’ full-time starter under center, but lately, he has been morphing into a potential star.
NFL analyst Danny Kanell has been loving what he has seen from Love in recent weeks, and during a segment on CBS, he raved about Love.
“I thought we saw a franchise quarterback blossoming in front of our eyes with Jordan Love,” Kanell said in reference to Love’s performance in a Week 13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Love went 25-for-36 with 267 yards and three touchdowns in Green Bay’s 27-19 victory.
Over the last four games, Love has totaled eight touchdowns and no interceptions, leading the Packers to a 3-1 record in the process. Green Bay has won three straight games and has worked its way back into the NFC playoff picture as a result.
This is in stark contrast to Love’s prior six games, as he recorded seven touchdowns and nine picks as the Packers went 1-5 in those contests.
On the season overall, Love has thrown for 2,866 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 61.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.2.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was originally selected by Green Bay with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He spent the first three years of his career as Aaron Rodgers’ backup, but this past offseason, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets in a blockbuster deal.
As a result, the way was cleared for Love to assume the starting role. Early on, many wondered if Green Bay would have to go in a different direction under center heading into 2024. However, Love’s recent play has almost surely bought him some more time and then some.
The Packers are now 6-6 and will take on the New York Giants next Monday as they aim to win their fourth straight game and move back over .500.
