The top of the running back depth chart for the Chicago Bears is intriguing with David Montgomery. It quickly concerning considering the lack of rushing talent behind him to provide some relief and insurance.

Simply put, Tarik Cohen is at his best when used as a receiving threat and not as a traditional running back. That creates the need to pursue a veteran back like Devonta Freeman to have another option more capable of providing a traditional three-down presence.

With Mitchell Trubisky still slotted to start at quarterback in 2020, it’s in the Bears’ best interest to maximizing its talent at running back. Having strong production coming from the ground game could help simplify things in a needed way.
